Wide receiver and return specialist for the Purdue Boilermakers, Charlie Jones (born October 29, 1998) plays American football.
At Buffalo and Iowa, he previously played.
Jones was raised in Illinois’ Deerfield and went to Deerfield High School. Over offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, and Wyoming, he decided to play college football at Buffalo.
At Buffalo, Jones started his collegiate sexual career. During his actual rookie year, he redshirted. Jones caught 18 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns as a redshirt freshman and returned 15 kickoffs for 289 yards. He changed schools to Iowa after the season.
Due to NCAA transfer regulations, Jones missed his first season at Iowa after enrolling as a walk-on. He started the team’s inaugural season at Iowa as the primary punt returner.
Jones was recognized to the second team of the Big Ten Conference as a returner by the league’s coaches after finishing the 2020 campaign with 21 punt returns for 221 yards and one score. The season also saw him receive a scholarship.
